Palmdale Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects that caused over $100,000 dollars in damage while stripping wires from a concrete plant near 7186 East Avenue T.

On January 13th, Palmdale Station Deputies responded to the “Rialto Concrete Products” plant for a burglary investigation in which the suspect(s) entered the property through a cut chain link fence and stripped over 20 electrical boxes inside of the plant. The plant manufactures concrete piping for various construction companies.

Employees of the plant were unsure of the amount of wiring the suspects got away with from the theft, but estimate the repair costs to be in the range of $100,000. Detectives believe the thieves were after the copper core inside the wiring. Palmdale Station has seen a rise in thefts related to metal items being taken in an attempt to recycle them for money.

Shots fired near school. Parents flee. Suspects Drive Backwards And Ram Deputies Patrol Car. Parolees arrested From Bail Bondsman In Compton

Several minutes before school let out, Compton Station deputies heard gunshots in the vicinity of Longfellow Elementary School, 1100 Block of South Dwight Avenue, Compton.

They checked the area and saw people fleeing for their safety who pointed to a grey car involved in a car-to-car shooting. The deputies saw a grey Lexus with two male black occupants in the street parallel to a parked vehicle.

The suspects in the Lexus, upon seeing the deputies, immediately drove in reverse and recklessly endangered several parents waiting to pick up their children from school. The deputies immediately initiated a vehicle pursuit of the shooting suspects.

The pursuit terminated at the end of Caldwell Street, just east of Oleander Avenue, when the suspects abruptly drove backwards and intentionally rammed the pursuing Sheriff’s patrol car. The deputies took quick action and were able to take both suspects into custody without further incident.

The subsequent investigation identified the 18-year old victim of the shooting and found him to be unharmed. Evidence was collected, which included the recovery of a pistol believed to be used in the shooting.

The suspects, 21 year-old, Corey Coleman, a resident of Compton, and 22 year-old, Darius Oliver, a Long Beach resident, were booked for Attempt Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Peace Officers, and are being held without bail on parole violations.

The deputies involved in the pursuit were not injured, nor were any parents or students.

WANTED: Attempt Murder of Peace Officer in Temple City -Suspect Sketch. Jan.2 Deputy-Involved Shooting From Bail Bondsman In Temple

On Monday, January 2, 2012, at about 4:25PM, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop of a bicyclist in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Avenue in Temple City.

During the contact,the deputy attempted to place the suspect under arrest for a narcotic related offense.

The suspect resisted the arrest and began fighting with the deputy. During the struggle, the suspect gabbed and attempted to take the deputy’s gun from his holster.

The deputy maintained control of his sidearm and broke the grasp of the suspect.

The suspect kicked and punched the deputy in his face and chest area during the fight.

As the suspect began to run from the location, the deputy ordered the suspect to stop.

As the suspect turned towards the deputy, he pulled a dark object from his waistband.

Believing the suspect had armed himself with a handgun and fearing for his safety, the deputy fired one round at the suspect.

The suspect ran southbound from the location.

It is unknown if the suspect was struck by the round.

A containment (search perimter) was set up and the subsequent search of the area did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is WANTED for Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer. He is described as:

32-37 year old Hispanic male.
Black hair, light eyes (possibly hazel)
5'08' - 5'11' tall
160-180 pounds

The suspect left his bicycle at the scene.

The deputy involved in the incident was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries received during the assault.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by detectives from Temple Sheriff's Station Detective Bureau, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Palmdale Deputies Assist in Capture of Walk-aways from Camp Mendenhall From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

On 01/12/12, two juvenile offenders assigned to Camp Mendenhall, located at 42230 N. Lake Hughes Rd. Lake Hughes, walked away from a supervised hike near the camp. Los Angeles County Probation Department officials notified Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and deputies responded to complete a missing persons report and assist Probation Department personnel with an area search. The two subjects were not located.

This morning (01/13/12) at approximately 8:30 AM, a resident of Lake Hughes called Palmdale Station and advised that two juveniles wearing probation camp jumpsuits were contacting residents and asking to use the phone. Palmdale Deputies responded to the area and again coordinated a search effort with personnel from the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

While conducting the search, a second call was received at Palmdale Station from a resident, indicating an updated location of the two offenders, behind a local business near the 17500 Block of Elizabeth Lake Rd, in the Lake Hughes area. Deputies contained the location and both offenders were taken into custody by Probation and Sheriff’s Department personnel without incident. The offenders were taken back into custody by the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

DUI checkpoint this Friday in Palmdale. Drive Sober, Choose Your Ride Home From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, January 13, 2012 at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

DUI checkpoints are a proven enforcement tool effective in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often enough.

Officers will be contacting drivers passing through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. Officers will also check for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 7 lives and resulted in 88 injury crashes harming 121 of our friends and neighbors,” said Sgt M. Johnston.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent. Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.

“Deaths from drunk and drug-impaired driving are going down in California,” said Christopher J. Murphy, Director of the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). “But that still means that hundreds of our friends, family and co-workers are killed each year, along with tens of thousands who are seriously injured. We must all continue to work together to bring an end to these tragedies. If you see a Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1.”

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the City of Palmdale by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, targeting those who still don’t heed the message to designate a sober driver.

4 Arrests, $250K in Stolen Trademarked Plastic Recovered by City of Industry Sheriff's ($5M in plastic in 5 mo's) From Bail Bondsman In Industry

Four Los Angeles men were arrested in connection with $250,000 worth of stolen, trademarked plastic products.

The items were discovered around 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2011, at the R and P Industries recycling business, located on the 700 block of East 59th Street, Los Angeles (Vermont-Slauson community)

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Plastic Industrial Theft Task Force, based out of Industry Sheriff’s Station, went to the location and conducted a Business and Professions Code compliance check of a recycling business. There, they discovered ceiling-high stacks of stolen, trademarked plastics, such as pallets, crates, collapsible totes, and bread baskets; these items were all found intact.

In addition, sixty-three 2,000-pound gaylord bags containing plastic grind were located. A large industrial plastic-grinding machine, a band saw and other tools used to grind plastic were also located.

(Suspects) Business owner, Regelio Casimiro (MH/50), and employees Heredia Espinoza (MH/26), Dorian Carrillo (MH/23), and Salvador Cortez (MH/36), were arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Illegal Possession of Trademarked Property. They were booked at Industry Sheriff’s Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and each is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Teen hears burglar, hides, calls 911. Burglar pretends to be homeowner, is arrested by LASD in Valinda From Bail Bondsman In Industry

Industry Sheriff’s Station deputies responded at 11:10 AM Wednesday to the 16800 block of Lawnwood Street, Unincorporated Area of Valinda, regarding an emergency call for service of a burglary in progress.

Dispatchers spoke with a 15-year-old boy on the telephone who said he heard someone trying to break into his home. Fearing for his safety, the boy grabbed a portable telephone, ran to his bed and hid under the sheets.

The boy provided updates to the dispatcher as the patrol deputies responded to the house. At one point, the suspect was pillaging the same room where the boy took refuge.

As deputies arrived, they saw the suspect inside the home. The deputies approached the front door and were greeted by the suspect, who acted as if he lived in the home. The deputies knew the
suspect did not live there.

The suspect, identified as Suspect Aurelio Hernandez, a 42-year of resident of Valinda, was arrested and booked at Industry Sheriff’s Station and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Woman threatens bus passengers, force was used, taken to mental observation From Bail Bondsman In Lakewood

On Monday, January 9, 2012, at approximately 5:19 PM, Lakewood Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call of a disturbance at a bus stop located at Artesia Boulevard and Lakewood Boulevard in the city of Bellflower.

The called stated a “Female White, 40 years old, wearing a white sweatshirt”, was causing a disturbance at the bus stop and was threatening awaiting passengers with violence. The caller’s comments included:

“…She is trying to pick a fight on anybody. She almost hit an old man…she seems like she got out of prison… I’ll beat up all you guys…there‘s some ladies here also and we, we’re trying to stay away from her.. and she is trying to pick a fight with anybody...She’s on the bus with us, oh my God…”

The caller said the disturbing party then boarded MTA Bus #266, along with other citizens and continued northbound on Lakewood Boulevard. The caller was also on the bus.

Lakewood Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to the call and stopped the bus northbound on Lakewood Boulevard at Alondra Boulevard in Bellflower.

Deputies boarded the bus and made contact with the disturbing party, a 41-year old woman. The deputies immediately recognized her as an individual who had a history of assaulting deputies and had a propensity for violence.

Deputies said they requested the woman to exit the bus, but she refused, began shouting profanities at them, and threatened to assault them. The deputies stated that a use of force was necessary because she was aggressive. One deputy used an elbow strike that caused her to fall on a nearby seat. Deputies were able to gain control of her and handcuffed her without further incident.

She was transported to an undisclosed hospital, where she was examined by medical professionals. Medical professionals said they did not see any visible sign of injury as a result of the use of force.

She continued to display a combative behavior toward medical staff. She was admitted to the hospital for a 72-hour mental observation hold, under the authority of 5150 of the California State Welfare and Institutions Code. She was not arrested.

She has four prior convictions for assaulting peace officers.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca said he was disturbed by the incident. He confirmed it was his understanding the woman was homeless and had a history of mental problems. "She's noted for having verbal conflicts with people in the community, and she's been noted also to get in verbal conflicts with law enforcement," said Sheriff Baca. "And she's assaulted on several occasions law enforcement officers."

"I think I have an obligation to understand what this lady's plight is. And I have a greater obligation to make sure she's just not spending all this time in jail and then when she gets out she's back on the street," Sheriff Baca said.

The use of force and manner in which this incident was handled is under investigation to determine the full facts of what occurred. The investigation will include oversight by the Office of Independent Review.

A tape of the original 9-1-1 call was released to the news media.

The Checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in the city of Bellflower. The location of Friday’s Checkpoint was on Alondra Boulevard and Woodruff Avenue, Bellflower.

The goal of the DUI/DL Checkpoint was to remove impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

There were 1,286 drivers that were checked at the Checkpoint that evening which resulted in the following:

Max term for teacher’s aide convicted of sexual assaults of students with disabilities From Bail Bondsman In Los Angeles

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge Thursday imposed the maximum possible sentence on a former high school teacher’s aide convicted of sexually abusing two special education students, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Rachel Moser Greene of the Sex Crimes Division said 45-year-old Oscar Enrique Santos of La Puente was sentenced to 18 years in state prison. Judge Sam Ohta indicated the prison term may not be served in county jail.

Jurors convicted Santos on Nov. 10, 2011, of 21 felony counts including oral copulation of an incompetent person, oral copulation of a person under 18 and sexual battery by restraint.

The charges involve two girls with developmental disabilities – one of whom is confined to a wheelchair – who were assaulted between 2005 and 2007 when Santos was a teacher’s aide at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles.

At the time, the defendant was responsible for assisting a male student who is gravely disabled. The assaults took place on campus when the girls, then ages 16 and 17, were between classes.

Santos attacked the young women on multiple occasions in an on-campus elevator, keeping the elevator moving up and down between floors while he carried out the assaults, the prosecutor said.

Evidence presented at trial to establish Santos’ pattern of conduct revealed that the defendant had a history of similar complaints as testified to by a third, uncharged victim who Santos unsuccessfully attempted to lure into the elevator.

The case was investigated by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

We at All American Bail Bonds have been conducting bail for over ten years and we always seem to get the same questions, due to misconceptions regarding our industry.

the common misconception is that we the bail bondsman have the ability to negotiate below the legal percentage rate set by law, the set rate that all bail bondman are required to charge. The legal percentage in California is no more than 10% but no less than 8% under certain restrictions.

Below are some common questions are client services receive and the appropriate answers.

Q. I called another company who said they charge 3%, why are you charging more?

A. What that company is doing is illegal, it's better known as bait and switch. What their trying to do is get you in the front door and than they drop on you your remaining balance of 7% more. Not cool, but we get this complaint often.

Q. Why can't you charge what ever you want?

A. We as bail bondsman are licensed bail agents AKA Insurance agents licensed through the department of insurance. The department of insurance dictates by law the legal limits of a bond, bail or other, may cost. If a company charges less than the legal limits they are not only breaking the law but also performing in a matter in which you should question their integrity.

Q. What is the Zero Down Bail Program and how much interest do you charge.

A. The Zero Down (No money down programs) are normally based on the guarantee given through the indemnitor. What this means is basically we look at the financial stability, of the indemnitor, such as job history, credit, or even collateral.

As far as interest is concerned, it is illegal for a bail bonding company to charge more than the set rate, such as interest. We as bail bondsman are not a finance company.
Please Note: A Bail Bonding Service can legally charge additional fees such as "agent fees" for travel, notary, or any additional service in addition to their jobs as bail agents.
Personal Note: The additional fees are highly Negotiable, due to the nature of our competitiveness. If you ask, many of these fees may be waived.

Q. What is the lowest legal rate for a Bail Bond?

A. As per Proposition 103 the lowest legal rate that any one Bail Bonding company can charge is 8%, anything less is ILLEGAL.

Q. What if I don't pay, What will happen?

A. The department of insurance has ruled that bail bonding company's can no longer revoke bond when any portion of the bail bond has been paid unless full refund has been given. In other words, non pay of a bail bond turns into a civil matter and if the company revokes the bail bond than the client may be entitled to full return of bail premium.

Please Note: This is a very tricky situation, We at All American Bail Bonds Corporate have a strict policy against the revocation of a bail bond for non pay, but I have had other people tell us that it happened to their loved ones. The bail bonding company isn't going to say they revoked the bail bond for non pay, their going to make up some of other excuse as to why they performed in the manner they did. The reason we have found that phone book still work is that the company's who have been in business the longest, which means they probably do the best business, still will advertise in the paper media knowing they can reach the largest audience in addition to the world wide web.

The following can be used for researching company's either online or in a phone book, most of the following more relates to searching online.

When researching a company always check that the company has a valid insurance license in the state that you require their services. In California you want to go to the California department of Insurance, which can be located at http://insurance.ca.gov/license-status/. Simply put in the name or license of the agent your checking and if there is in the system you'll get a hit. If you do get a valid hit check to make sure that the company has no negative history and if they do than you may want look into another company.
Check on the company's address! This is a big problem with bonding company's advertising here in Los Angeles. Any city you type in you get a list of offices for companies who claim to operate in that city, but in fact there mostly bogus. During the early morning hours of Thursday, December 29, 2011, two persons were arrested in the Hollywood area in unrelated arson incidents where four fires and one attempted fire occurred. The arsons involved trash can fires and a vehicle fire that extended to an apartment building. Samuel Arrington 22 years old was charged with arson of an inhabited dwelling ($75,000 bail) and Alejandro Pineda 55 years old was charged with arson of property ($50,000 bail).

During the early morning hours of Friday, December 30, 2011, a series of 17 car/structure fires developed; five in West Hollywood and 12 in Hollywood. Following this series of fires a Joint Arson Task Force comprised of the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was assembled.

In the early evening hours of Friday, December 30, 2011, and through the early morning hours of Saturday, December 31, 2011, 16 additional vehicle/structure fires occurred; four in Hollywood, 11 in North Hollywood, and one in Sunland. An additional car fire occurred in the City of Burbank.

On Saturday evening, December 31, 2011, 8 additional car/structure fires occurred; 6 in Hollywood and two in West Hollywood.

During the early morning hours of January 2, 2012, 11 additional car/structure fires occurred; two in West Hollywood, two in Hollywood, and seven in North Hollywood.

This string of fires has resulted in one fire fighter and one citizen injury; there have been no fatalities to date.

The Task Force has worked together around the clock and is currently reviewing more than 100 clues, mapping out the sequence of the fires that occurred, interviewing hundreds of witnesses, and canvassing the 53 fire scenes as part of this active investigation. Hundreds of investigators and uniform personnel from throughout the City and County of Los Angeles have been deployed to assist. Additionally, multiple search warrants have been authored and served as part of this investigation.

To date these fires have caused nearly 3 million dollars of damage to vehicles and structures.

On Monday, January 2, 2012, shortly after 3:00 a.m., a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to West Hollywood Station stopped the driver of a van near Sunset Blvd. and Fairfax Ave in the City of Los Angeles. The van resembled a description provided by the Arson Task Force as possibly being related to the recent fires and the driver resembled the person of interest seen in a videotape released by the multi-agency Arson Task Force. The driver was detained and investigators with the Arson Task Force were notified. Subsequent to interviewing this individual, he was placed under arrest.

In-Car High-Tech Helps Deputies Arrest Santa Clarita Burglars From Bail Bondsman In Santa Clarita

LASD High-tech Equipment Coupled with Swift Police Work by Santa Clarita Station Deputies Results in Two Suspects Taken Into Custody.

Two suspects were allegedly committing felonies while most residents of Santa Clarita were sleeping. A quick response by Santa Clarita Station deputies, guided by technology recently installed in LASD patrol cars, made sure that the suspects would ruin no one else’s holiday season.

Friday morning, December 23, the two suspects allegedly started their crime spree by smashing a car’s window and stealing items from inside it near McBean Parkway and Copperhill Drive in Saugus. Later the same morning, the suspects attempted to burglarize another car near Garzota Drive and Seco Canyon Road, Saugus.

At about 6:30AM, Friday, a witness saw the two suspects smash the car’s window and began shouting at them. The suspects left the area in a blue Silverado pickup truck but not before the witness obtained a partial license plate number of the suspect's truck.

Santa Clarita deputies swarmed the area looking for the suspects.

Meanwhile, Deputy Steve Shirley assigned as an instructor with the Sheriff's Communications and Fleet Management Bureau was on his way to court and listening to the sheriff's radio broadcast.

Deputy Shirley's car was equipped with the new Sheriff's Mobile Digital Computer System (MDCS), so he was able to remotely access his desktop computer at work. He linked to a multi-jurisdictional database, and using several possible license plates, determined the full license plate of the suspect's truck.

He accessed the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) database and was able to see photos of the truck that were made when it had passed through areas ranging from East Los Angeles to Santa Clarita.

In looking at the photos on the screen of his in-car computer from ten miles away, he provided a detailed description over the radio of the suspect's vehicle to deputies who were searching, including the full license plate and that it had an extended cab with chrome rims, and even described the chrome-tipped, dual-exhaust pipes.

The suspects were quickly observed and detained by deputies near Via Princessa and Golden Triangle Road, Canyon Country, while they were allegedly stealing construction materials and equipment from a nearby construction yard.

Suspects Brian Martinez, 19 years of age, and Daniel Sandridi, 28 years of age, both from Sylmar, were transported to Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. They are being held on charges of Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property.

Additional victims, identified through investigation of the stolen property, have been contacted by Santa Clarita Sheriff's deputies.

Deputies at the scene of the arrrest said they had never seen a truck so loaded down with stolen property.

"So far, the new MDC's are installed in radio cars in Industry, Palmdale and Lancaster Sheriff's Station, said Captain Scott Edson, Sheriff's Communications and Fleet Management Bureau. "We install and deploy more MDC's every day and are providing training for all deputies on how to use this system. This incident demonstrates how effective a deputy can be when the right technology is in the right hands at the right time."

Suspect Bryan Shepherd, a High School girls basketball and track coach, was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, for sexually assaulting a former high school student.

Santa Clarita 19-Year Old Charged With 29 Sex Crimes Against 14 Teen Girls. Possible Additional Victims From Bail Bondsman In Santa Clarita

In early December, 2011, a female minor reported being sexually assaulted by 19-year old Suspect Michael Downs earlier in the year in the Santa Clarita Valley.

With this information, detectives with the Special Victims Bureau, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, began an investigation.

The investigation resulted in the identification of an additional 13 female teenage victims, between the ages of 12 and 16 years old. The 13 additional victims were also allegedly sexually assaulted by Suspect Downs.

Detectives learned that Suspect Downs met the victims at social events, public places and on Facebook. The assaults occurred throughout the year 2011 at various locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

The suspect met many of the victims on the social networking site Facebook. His alleged approach was befriending his victims on Facebook. He did so by claiming he was 16-years old and gaining their confidence in part by giving the names of other teen girls and saying he was friends with them. He would ultimately convince them to meet with him and then allegedly had sex with them.

"For over a week we have found new victims every day as we investigate these crimes," said Lieutenant Carlos Marquez, Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau. "We are asking the public to have some difficult discussions with their kids and contact us if there are more victims."

Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau investigators presented the facts of this case to the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney, which filed 29 felony counts of sexual assault by the suspect against 14 different girls.

As a result of the investigation, sheriff's detectives arrested Suspect Downs on December 15, 2011. He was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for the charges of felony committing Lewd Acts With A Child and Unlawful Sexual Intercourse, and is being held in lieu of bail of $1.8 million.

Santa Clarita Patrol Deputy Discovers Substantial Illegal Marijuana Grow in Residential Neighborhood From Bail Bondsman In Santa Clarita

A patrol deputy checking an apparent vacant house in the 20400 block of Delight Street, Canyon Country, discovered a substantial illegal indoor residential marijuana grow earlier this week. While outside the house the deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the house. The deputy also heard a number of air conditioning units running, despite the fact it was cold outside. The deputy also noticed the windows all around the home appeared to be covered or blacked out.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Headquarters Narcotics Bureau, assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station area, joined Santa Clarita Deputies from the Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) and deputies from the Crime Prevention Unit to serve a search warrant at the location just after 12:00 p.m. yesterday. Once inside, deputies found the entire house had been converted into a sophisticated and substantial Hydroponics marijuana cultivation operation. Four rooms were equipped with irrigation systems, fans and ventilation systems, elaborate lighting systems running throughout the day and night, and altered electrical systems which presented a substantial fire hazard.

Despite the fact the house was only estimated to be about 1,300 square feet, the perpetrators had installed multiple air conditioning and heating systems including one 7 ton air conditioning unit designed for a 10,000 square foot structure. Based on previous cases of this type, deputies estimate that the power bill alone for this grow would have been thousands of dollars each month. Deputies also discovered an apparent cultivation schedule where several different individuals had logged down visiting the house, tending to and cultivating the plants, and indicating on the list how much pay they were due to receive.

Deputies spent hours at the location dismantling the systems and confiscating the illegal marijuana plants. Deputies estimate the original cost of the cultivation equipment they recovered to be in excess of $75,000. More than 200 plants, estimated at 200-300 pounds in total weight, were taken as evidence. Narcotics experts estimate the street value of the marijuana to be between $1,500 to $5,000 per pound. The Southern California Gas Company and Southern California Edison officials responded to the location to address substantial utility concerns.

Homicide Bureau Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Deputy-Involved Shooting which occurred Thursday, December 1, 2011, in the 11400 block of Pioneer Boulevard, Norwalk.

Investigators have learned that at approximately 4:50 A.M., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau deputies assisted Sheriff's Homicide detectives with the service of a search warrant to locate a murder suspect at the location on Pioneer Boulevard. The investigation and search warrant was related to the July 31, 2011, homicide of Rogelio Sanchez, which also occurred in Norwalk.

Once inside the residence, Special Enforcement Bureau deputies made contact with a 39-year-old male suspect, who suddenly pointed a handgun at them. The deputies fired several rounds at the suspect, striking him. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The primary suspect wanted in connection with the July 31st homicide, 31-year-old Suspecy Henry Bahena was taken into custody without incident. He was booked at Norwalk Sheriff's Station for murder and is being held without bail.

Deputies Rescue Pyramid Lake Boaters Capsized in High Winds - Photo of Rescue Song Being Sung From Bail Bondsman In Valencia

Two men caught by surprise Wednesday when sudden high winds knocked them into the chilly waters of Pyramid Lake in northern Los Angeles County. They treaded water without life jackets for 90 minutes in chilly waters as they clung to their small boat caught against the dam spillway, as they feared for their lives until discovered by County Parks sheriff's deputies.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Parks Bureau deputies had received a call at 5:00 p.m. from the Assistant Manager at the Pyramid Lake Concessionaire. She explained her concerns to the deputies that two men in a 10-foot "Pond Prowler" boat had not returned and were still on the lake. The sudden winds by this time had suddenly risen to 65-70 miles an hour with five foot swells on the lake.

The deputies launched two LASD rescue boats and began to search for the men and their vessel in the dark.

A helicopter was requested to help in the search but due to the hazards of the 90 mph winds at flying altitude, it was not safe for them to assist in the search.

The deputies soon found the men located on the spillway near the dam and saw waves crashing on them near a 200 foot drop.

The deputies could not reach them by boat due to the safety cable and buoys in the water that prevent large vessels from getting too close to the dam. The deputies later learned that the men's light boat had been pushed and blown uncontrollably into this area and capsized. The men then clung on hoping for help to come. By now it was dark and they feared they would tire out before they were found.

The boat deputies gave instructions to the two men over a public address system while other deputies made their way near the men on foot.

The men had been caught in an area where they could not see any place would they could escape the water on their own. Deputies kept providing instructions and showed the men where to paddle to with their overturned boat, and guided them to a safe exit from the water onto dry land.

The men made it to land and were met by deputies.

A 60-year old man and and his 29-year old son, both residents of Agoura Hills, were treated for mild hypothermia at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics.

The 60-year old gentleman, a former opera singer from the Ukraine was so appreciative of the efforts made to rescue him and his son, that he sang "God Bless America" to all of the rescue personnel (photo).

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deputy involved shooting which occurred Tuesday, November 29, 2011, in the 11700 block of Elmcroft Avenue, Norwalk.

Investigators have learned that at approximately 3:50 A.M., deputies responded to a call of a person shooting a firearm in the street.

Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with the suspect, who was standing in the street holding a handgun in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other.

The suspect appeared agitated and yelled at the deputies, challenging them to kill him. The deputies attempted to talk to the suspect and asked him to drop the handgun.

The suspect suddenly fired his handgun at the deputies, striking a Sheriff's Department radio car.

The deputies returned fire at the suspect, striking him several times.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition and expected to survive.

Palmdale Detectives are Asking for Help in Locating an Attempted Rape Suspect From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

Palmdale Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identifying and locating an attempted rape suspect who brutally assaulted a 74 year old woman.

On Sunday, September 11, at about 3:00 PM, a 74 year-old woman was sitting at a bus stop outside of Vallarta Supermarket on 18th Street East and Palmdale Blvd. The suspect was parked in the Antelope Valley Bank parking lot when he called the victim over to his vehicle and persuaded her to accept a ride home.

While driving the victim towards her residence, he began making advances towards victim. When the victim refused, he drove the victim to a closed business complex near 3rd Street East and Avenue P, where he attempted to sexually assault her in the vehicle. When the victim would not get out of the vehicle the suspect began beating the victim with a closed fists and a blunt object. The victim began screaming at which point the suspect fled the location in his vehicle leaving the victim with severe injuries to both her jaw and head injuries.

Unfamiliar with her surroundings and scared of her attacker returning, the victim concealed her injuries and boarded a nearby bus heading towards her home. The victim then walked approximately a mile from the where the bus dropped her off to her home where she described the violent encounter to her family.

Working with Detectives, the victim recalled details about the suspect’s vehicle, which is described as a wine colored older model Toyota single cab pickup. The vehicle had two bucket seats in the cab instead of a bench.

The suspect is described as a 50 to 60 year old Hispanic male with a light complexion and light colored eyes (possibly hazel).

Palmdale OSS Detectives Discover Marijuana Grow During Probation Search From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

Palmdale OSS Detectives arrested two suspects Tuesday evening after discovering a Marijuana Cultivation Operation during a probation compliance check.

Members of the Operation Safe Streets (OSS) team were looking for Jonathan Cheatham who is an active probationer and currently has a no bail arrest warrant for cultivation of Marijuana. When detectives attempted to contact Cheatham at his home near the 18200 Block of East Avenue S, Cheatham ran from the rear of the home into the open field out back. A containment of the property was established and Cheatham was discovered and taken into custody a short distance from the residence.

The residence is located in a rural area and consists of a main home as well as shed like structures behind it. While conducting a probation compliance search of the residence, detectives discovered three additional occupants as well as a Marijuana Cultivation Operation, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a M1 carbine.

The Cultivation operation consisted of ballast and a watering system in a room inside of the home, containing approximately 50 plants. Another in one of the exterior sheds, containing approximately 75 plants, and a smaller grow in a camper shell in the rear of the property. In total over 160 plants were recovered along with the equipment used to cultivate the Marijuana. Detectives estimate the street value of the Marijuana to be approximately $10,000 to $20,000.

Jonathan Cheatham was arrested and booked for his outstanding no bail warrant, Cultivation of Marijuana, and Felon in Possession of a firearm. One of the three detained occupants of the home, John Allen, was also arrested on a no bail arrest warrant for forgery and fraud out of the state of Texas. The ongoing investigation will be handled by the Palmdale Station’s OSS Unit.

Palmdale Deputies Arrest Two Suspects Believed to be behind a String of Robberies From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

Palmdale Deputies took two suspects (Robin Engram and Jeffery Johnson) into custody Sunday evening after they committed an armed Robbery of a local business in the Palmdale area.

The Robbery started when Palmdale Station received a 911 call from a witness of the crime indicating the “Smoke Shop” at 2531 East Avenue S was being robbed at gunpoint by two suspects wearing masks. The witness was inside of the business when the two suspects, a male and female, entered the location, produced a firearm and declared the location was being robbed. The witness fled the location and immediately called authorities with a description of not only the suspects, but the vehicle they were driving.

The suspects forced one of the store clerks to open the register where they took the cash from the register and fled the location in a silver Kia spectra. As deputies canvased the area, Palmdale Patrol Deputies Michael Luter and David Camps observed a silver KIA spectra waiting for a red light at 40th Street East and Avenue S, with two occupants matching the suspect’s descriptions.

Deputies Luter and Camps, along with assisting units, conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle near the 4000 Block of Elwood Avenue, Johnson’s home, and detained the two suspects for a Robbery investigation. During their investigation deputies located a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun, a pair of black gloves, a black ski mask and scarf, as well as a large amount of US currency.

Both suspects were identified as the suspects behind the Robbery that had just occurred, and also matched the description of two suspects that had robbed a separate nearby business on 11-17-11 and again on 11-25-11. Deputies continued their investigation by serving a search warrant on Johnson’s home were they located a “Luger” TEC-9 assault pistol.

Both suspects were transported to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station where Engram was booked on robbery charges; Johnson was booked on charges of Robbery, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Convicted Felon Carrying a Concealed Firearm. Both suspects are being held on $50,000 bail with an arraignment date of 11-29-11. Palmdale Detectives believe the two suspects are responsible for the prior two robberies on November 17th and 25th.

3 Arrested for Assault with Machete; 2 more arrested after $3M Marijuana Grow house found From Bail Bondsman in Rosemead

A October 19, 2011 assault with a deadly weapon in Rosemead resulted in five arrests on Wednesday, November 23.

During the incident, nine male Chinese-American suspects assaulted three victims using what the victims described as a machete.

One adult and two juvenile victims suffered lacerations but none of the injuries were life threatening. The suspects were alleged members of the “Asian Boyz” street gang.

Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department - Operation Safe Streets Bureau, Asian Gang Team immediately responded and investigated the incident. During the investigation, victims of the assault identified five of the nine suspects. Three of the suspects were juveniles and two were adults. Investigators arrested one juvenile suspect almost immediately at his home in El Monte. He was booked at Temple Sheriff’s Station and later transported to Eastlake Juvenile Hall.

Wednesday morning, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators served search warrants at the homes of the four remaining suspects, all located in the city of Rosemead. When Investigators entered the home of suspect Fernando Lam (18) located at the 9300 block of Pitkin Street, they discovered an indoor marijuana grow.

A total of about 1,400 marijuana plants in various stages of growth were seized from the house. The estimated total street value of the seized marijuana is about $3 million.

Suspect Fernando Lam was located at home adjacent to the indoor marijuana grow. He was arrested for the October assault. Investigators searched that house and found numerous Ecstasy pills and Methamphetamine. Lam’s brother, Antonio Lam (21), was arrested for being in possession of Ecstasy pills. Lam’s sister, Karina Lam (20), was arrested for being in possession of Ecstasy pills and Methamphetamine. All three suspects were booked at Temple Sheriff’s Station.

The juvenile suspects of the assault were located in their respective homes. They were booked at Temple Sheriff’s Station and later transported to Eastlake Juvenile Hall.

Leon Quoc Phang (18), a resident of Rosemead, the other adult assault suspect, is being sought by sheriff’s investigators, who recommend he turn himself in.

The investigation into the indoor marijuana grow is still on-going.

Laptop stolen from home, recovered when detectives see Suspect's Facebook photo on tracking software From Bail Bondsman In Los Angeles

A reported burglary of two laptop computers and a Play Station 3 from a home in Rancho Palos Verdes on October 20, 2011 has resulted in the arrest of a suspect.

The homeowners were puzzled and could not figure out how someone was able to get into their home, steal their property, and get away, since there was no sign of forced entry into the house.
The owners reported the thefts to the Lomita Sheriff’s Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

What the suspect didn’t know was that one of the stolen laptop computers was embedded with a “LoJack for Laptops” theft recovery software. The company’s monitoring center was notified of the theft by the owners and the monitoring company kept in close contact with the handling sheriff’s investigator, Sheriff's Detective Chuck Braden.

The monitored laptop was also equipped with photo recognition software. When the suspect in possession of the stolen laptop realized he could not logon to the computer, he had a completely new operating system installed and the photo recognition software removed. He incorrectly thought the embedded monitoring software had been removed, but it is very difficult to remove it.

On November 4, the suspect used the laptop to logon to Facebook. This enabled the monitoring company to gather the suspect’s personal information, including a photo of him, his name, and more. This was given to the sheriff’s investigator.

Detective Braden showed the photo of the suspect to the victims and they immediately recognized him as an unlicensed contractor who had done work at their home two months prior. The victim recalled giving the suspect access to a spare key so he could work in the residence while they were away. They did not know him by his true name, they only knew him as “Pepe.”

It is believed the suspect likely made a duplicate of the spare key and used it to commit the home burglary months later.

Detective Braden was able to locate and identify the suspect as Jose Miguel Ramirez, a 22-year old San Pedro resident. He convinced the suspect to bring the laptop computer to the Lomita Sheriff’s Station on Friday, November 18.

When Suspect Ramirez reported to the station with the stolen laptop computer he was arrested for Residential Burglary (Felony), initially with a $50,000.00 bail. His status was later changed to held without bail due to a felony immigration hold by U.S. Customs.

While the laptop with the tracking software was recovered, investigators are still seeking the other items. “The victims told me that when they bought their laptops, they discussed whether or not they should add tracking software to them,” said Detective Braden. “One got it against the advice of the other. That one got the laptop back.”

Detectives Use Craigslist to Track Down Saugus Teen Car Burglars. $50K in stolen property recovered From Bail Bondsman In Santa Clarita

Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Burglary and Fraud team tracked down two juveniles believed to be responsible for at least sixteen vehicle burglaries in the Saugus area of Santa Clarita over the past two months.

The detectives got the break they needed after they located some of the stolen property on Craiglist, a popular Internet resale Website.

Detectives placed a call indicating they wanted to purchase some of the items. One of the unsuspecting subjects met deputies at a local shopping center. Team members moved in to take him into custody after confirming he was in possession of some of the stolen items. That subject, male age 16, of Saugus was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony burglary charges. He was later released to his parents on a citation pending future court proceedings.

Information obtained during the arrest led deputies to a home in the 22800 block of Tamarack Lane, Saugus, where they located dozens of stolen items connected to other Santa Clarita cases. The items included video display systems, studio recording equipment, medical supplies and testing kits, electronics, sunglasses, cameras, GPS systems, and even a stolen gun.

Deputies estimate the value of the property in all the cases at more than $50,000. Deputies were able to return $18,000 worth of video equipment to one victim alone.

Deputies didn't stop there, they developed information on where the second juvenile subject was staying. They went to the 28700 block of Startree Lane in Saugus and arrested the second juvenile, male 17 of Saugus. That subject also had a no bail probation warrant. He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on the warrant and felony burglary charges. He was transported to Sylmar Juvenile pending future court proceedings.

Man Bites off Part of Palmdale Deputy's Ear and Tries to Take his Gun, is Arrested for Mayhem and Attempt Murder From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

In the chilly hours of early Monday morning, in the 200 block of East Palmdale Boulevard, a Palmdale Sheriff’s Station deputy stopped a man walking in the middle of the street (Suspect Miguel Delacruz).

The deputy spoke to the man and escorted him to his patrol in an effort to find out why he was walking in the middle of the street at 3:44AM in 38-degree weather.

Suspect Delacruz turned aggressively toward the deputy and assaulted him, the deputy defended himself and the two became involved in a fight.

During the minutes-long fight, Suspect Delacruz bit off part of the deputy’s left ear. The fight continued, and the deputy felt the suspect grab his gun and attempt to take it from the deputy. Although in pain from the loss of a significant portion of his ear, the deputy was able to retain his gun as he tried to overcome the suspect and to arrest him.

Delacruz continued to fight with the deputy as additional deputies arrived. Assisting Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were ultimately able to handcuff and arrest Delacruz.

Suspect Delacruz was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment as a result of his fight with the deputies. After he was discharged from the hospital, Delacruz was transported to Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, where he was booked for Attempted Murder and Mayhem of a peace officer.

41-year old Delacruz is on probation for kidnapping and is being held without bail for violating the conditions of his probation.

The detached section of the deputy’s ear was recovered and transported with the injured deputy to a local hospital to attempt surgical reattachment. Unfortunately, doctors decided the risk of infection was too great to try to reattach it. The deputy was later released from the hospital.

Robbery in South El Monte, California From Bail Bondsman In El Monte

On July 7, 2011 a takeover robbery occurred at “Commonwealth International Incorporated”, an armored terminal business, located in South El Monte, California.

DUI Driver Broadsides Patrol Car Injuring Deputy While En Route to Burglary Call From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

Palmdale Sheriff's Station deputies responded to a possible burglary, man with a gun call at 3:24AM on Saturday, in the area of Casa Verde Drive and Avenue S, Palmdale.

While en route to the call, deputies parked their vehicles along the west side of Casa Verde Drive and Avenue S, to quickly pre-plan their tactics in response to the call.

During that time, a 2006 Mitsubishi driven by Jose Aguilar, 19, from the city of Palmdale, failed to stop at the stop sign and broadsided the driver's side of a parked sheriff’s patrol car with a deputy seated behind the steering wheel.

The Mitsubishi struck the driver’s side of the patrol car at approximately 35mph. Los Angeles County Firefighters responded to the scene and used a hydraulic equipment to extricate the injured deputy from the wreckage.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries. The deputy’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Suspect Aguilar was given a Field Sobriety Test, which he failed. He was arrested for Felony Driving Under the Influence. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The suspect was booked at Palmdale Station with a bail amount of $100,000.

Suspect Aguilar was not connected to the original November 12, 2011, call.

The original call was later determined that a burglary did not occur but a prowler was possibly at the location. The suspect was not at the residence when deputies arrived.

Palmdale Station’s Partners Against Crime (PAC) Team arrested a probationer’s father Thursday afternoon during a random probation compliance check.

The PAC team was conducting their weekly random probation compliance checks, in conjunction with the LA County Probation Department, when they arrived at the residence of a probationer at 10205 Block of East avenue R-6, in the town of Littlerock. While conducting the compliance check they found that the probationer was in compliance with the terms of his probation, but deputies found evidence linking his father, Oscar Quezada, to possession of Marijuana for sales.

Deputies discovered that Quezada, a convicted felon, was in possession of a handgun, ammunition inside of his room, as well as over a pound of Marijuana and the items needed for its sale throughout the home.

Quezada was transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff's Station on charges of Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Convicted Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Marijuana for Sales. He is being held on $35,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on 11-15-11 at the Antelope Valley Court House.

Palmdale Deputies Arrest Three in Taxi Cab Carjacking From Bail Bondsman in Palmdale

Palmdale Patrol Deputies took three suspects into custody last night after a carjacking of a local taxi driver. Palmdale Station received a call from the victim around 7:50pm last night indicating he had just been carjacked at knifepoint and his taxi cab stolen. When deputies arrived on scene they identified that the victim had picked up one of the suspects who directed him to drive him to a residence near the 400 Block of East Avenue P-14, where two of his friends were waiting. As the suspect let one of the waiting friends into the taxi cab, the other quickly ran over to the driver’s side window and held a kitchen knife to the victim’s throat.

The suspects then ordered the victim out of the vehicle and had him empty his pockets of his wallet and personal belongings. The suspects threw the victim to the ground and fled in the victim’s taxi cab.

Deputies began canvasing the surrounding area immediately and located the victim’s taxi cab unlocked and abandoned on 5th Street East, South of Avenue Q. Given the small amount of time that had elapsed between the carjacking and the discovery of the abandoned vehicle, Deputies David Roach and Roberto Hernandez continued to canvas the area. While searching the area, they observed a small black compact vehicle with a driver and passenger matching the description of the described suspects.

The Deputies conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle near the 400 Block of East Avenue Q-3 and detained the driver and passenger of the vehicle as well as a third individual who had been hiding in the back seat. While detaining the occupants, deputies located the victim’s wallet, keys, kitchen knife and GPS device that were taken during the carjacking.

All three suspects were taken into custody and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station on charges of carjacking and are currently being held on $100,000 bail. Aguilera, the suspect located hiding in the back seat of the vehicle, was also identified to be on active parole with an electronic monitoring bracelet. He was additionally charged with violating the terms of his parole.

A Killer is Convicted of Robbery and Murder of a Huntington Park Couple In Their 70's From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

On April 19, 1987, Edna,72, and George Darrow,78, were found stabbed to death in their Huntington Park home on the 3300 block of Live Oak Street. Huntington Park Police officers discovered the victims deceased in their home during a check of their well-being when family became concerned about their whereabouts. Back in 1987 a single fingerprint was found and a match was made to a man named Donald Phillips, but at the time this single print was not enough to prosecute the suspect. Phillips maintained his innocence and provided an alibi as to why his print would be in the residence. Shortly after being interviewed, Phillips moved to the state of New York with his girlfriend.

Years later this case received a huge break when Sheriff’s Cold Case Homicide Investigator Steve Davis was able to identify additional witnesses who corroborated the evidence and discredited Phillip’s original statements to investigators. Phillips was arrested in 2006 in Palmdale for the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Darrow. Phillips remained in the Los Angeles County jail until 2011 when the case was finally able to go to trial in a case prosecuted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 24 years after the murders, Phillips was found guilty of murdering Mr. and Mrs. Darrow by a jury in Norwalk Superior Court. Although not yet sentenced for the murders, at age 45, Phillips is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole for first degree murder in the commission of a robbery. His next court date in December 12, 2011. He is being held without bail. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators had learned that Phillips had done construction work for the couple in the past, and knew they had money hidden in the home because they had paid him in cash. Investigators learned that what began as a robbery, ended in murder.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrow, Edna “Eva” Hare was in court when the verdict was read. She was extremely thankful to Detective Davis for never giving up on finding justice for her parents by apprehending and prosecuting the killer of her parents. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau investigators are known as “The Bulldogs” because of their tenacious police work. Suspect’s Getaway Vehicle Gets Stuck, Suspects Unknowingly Ask Victim For Help, Suspects Stuck In Jail From Bail Bondsman in Los Angeles County

On Friday, November 4, 2011, Palmdale Station deputies arrested Joseph Rakisits (Male 29) and William Gallardo (Male 32) after their getaway vehicle became stuck in a dirt field next to the location they just burglarized.

Palmdale deputies responded to the 2200 Block of West Avenue N-8, in the City of Palmdale when a resident claimed two suspects were stealing items from his work shed. The victim was walking his dog when he noticed a U-Haul truck stuck in the dirt in a vacant lot that backed up to his property. The two suspects approached the victim and asked if he would help them get their vehicle out of the hole they had dug and get them on their way. It was then that the victim noticed his chain link fence had been cut, and several of his items were in the back of the suspect’s U-Haul truck.

The victim quickly returned to his home, notified authorities, and began taking photos of the suspects throwing some of his belonging out of the truck and into the bushes. When deputies arrived they detained both suspects and observed the back of the U-Haul truck was full of items taken from a work shed on the victim’s property.

Both suspects claimed they were looking for a friend’s house when they wandered onto an overgrown lot, and got their vehicle stuck while trying to turn around. They also claimed that the items in their truck were from an estate sale in the Orange County area. What they could not explain was how the hole in the victim’s fence (which was mere feet from the stranded truck) occurred, or why the property they had in the back of the vehicle was the same as the property that was missing from the victim’s work shed. The items that were taken from the shed included tools, sports memorabilia, and electronics.

Both Tehachapi men were transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station on charges of Burglary, Grand Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property. Gallardo is currently being held on $50,000 bail, while Rakisits is currently being held on $200,000 bail due to an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from a DUI case.

Both suspects were arraigned on 11-8-11 at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.

A report of a child kidnapping at the 2500 block of Graydon Ave. in Monrovia is being investigated by Temple Sheriff's Station deputies.

The child was able to break free from the kidnapper during the 4:10PM, Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 incident.

The 6-year old male White victim boy explained that he was in his backyard when the suspect appeared and picked him up in his arms.

The suspect ran with the victim to a nearby apartment complex while covering the victim’s mouth with his hand. When the victim bit the suspect, the suspect dropped the victim and ran from the scene. The victim ran home where he was reunited with his mother.

Santa Ana man convicted of killing 9-month-old baby From Bail Bondsman in Orange County

A Santa Ana man was convicted Thursday of killing his girlfriend's 9-month-old son by repeatedly crushing the child's head against a wall in order to make him stop crying.

Alexander Lucas Barnes, 20, was found guilty of second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison and will be sentenced in January.

In October 2009, Barnes was baby-sitting Isaiah Prim-Ortiz while his girlfriend attended class at a nearby community college. Barnes was not the child's biological father.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the child's mother returned to find that her baby was not breathing,. The child died in the hospital shortly after 4 p.m. due to multiple skull fractures inflicted by Barnes.

Two men killed by Huntington Beach police From bail bondsman in Orange County

Two men were shot and killed by Huntington Beach police officers after they stopped a vehicle in Westminster and said they heard a gunshot.

The two officers who made the stop fired multiple rounds after they heard a gunshot coming from inside the vehicle. It was unclear whether a shot had been fired towards the officer. The officers said at least one firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. near Hammon Place and Westminster Boulevard, just outside the Huntington Beach city limits. An adult female was inside the car with the two men who were killed. She was not injured

Mother and boyfriend arrested for beating resulting in death of 2-year old son in Palmdale From Bail Bondsman in Los Angeles County

A mother and her boyfriend were arrested for murder early Saturday morning after Sheriff's Homicide investigators learned it was the beating of her 2-year old son, by the individuals, which allegedly caused the child's death.

Homicide Investigators from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department responded to the 38200 block of 5th Street East in the City of Palmdale to assist Palmdale Sheriff's Station deputies, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 2-year old boy.

Investigators learned that the child's mother, 19-year old Jennifer Zolorzano, rushed the child to a local hospital for head injuries she alleged occurred when the child slipped and fell while taking a bath. The child was pronounced dead by medical staff upon arrival to the hospital. During their investigation, detectives discovered the child had multiple bruises and burns about his body that were not consistent with the mother's statements.

Upon further investigation, the mother and her 21-year old boyfriend, Joe Hickman, admitted to brutally beating the child inside their Palmdale home. Both Zolorzano and Hickman were arrested for Murder and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff's station. They are being held in lieu of 1,000,000.00 bail. $250,000.00 in counterfeit iPhone parts seized during 5 location Search Warrant, 3 arrested, From Bail Bondsman in Los Angeles County

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Commercial Crimes Bureau, working on information provided by Apple Inc., conducted a three month investigation into alleged counterfeit iPhone parts being sold on the internet through various auction sites. The investigation lead detectives to five locations in the cities of Walnut, Rowland Heights and Covina.

On Thursday, October 20th, detectives from the sheriff's Commercial Crimes Bureau and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Bureau, served search warrants at all five locations recovering counterfeit iPhone rear panels, phone covers, and chargers with a street valueapproximately $250,000. The parts were believed to be imported from China.

Two Chinese men and one woman were arrested for Possession of Known Counterfeit iPhone parts with the intent to sell those parts to the public. All three suspects were booked at a local sheriff's station and are being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail. Due to the on-going investigation, names of the suspects are being withheld.

Attorney Arrested for Smuggling Narcotics into L.A. Courthouse, From Bail Bondsman in Los Angeles County

Intelligence was gathered by gang investigators with Operation Safe Streets, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, alleging that Criminal Defense Attorney Kenneth Markman was delivering narcotics to his clients who are confined in the Los Angeles County jail system.

On Friday, October 21, at 10am, Defense Attorney Markman arranged an attorney-client interview on the 11th Floor of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center (Criminal Courts Building), 210 West Temple Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Attorney-Client interviews are confidential communications between lawyers and their clients.

While Mr. Markman was waiting alone in the attorney room and prior to meeting with his client, a Sheriff’s Narcotics K-9 unit was brought into the room and it immediately "alerted" on Markman’s legal briefcase and person (narcotics K-9’s are trained to alert their deputy handlers when the presence of narcotics is detected).

Suspect Markman was questioned by sheriff’s gang investigators with respect to possessing narcotics. He removed a package from his interior suit jacket pocket and the K-9 Unit immediately alerted on the package, which was a tightly wrapped wad of electrical tape. Deputies removed the tape and discovered the package contained a total of twenty-six balloons containing tar Heroin and Methamphetamine. It also contained a quantity of marijuana, and three mini-hypodermic syringes.

A 47-year old resident of Los Angeles, Suspect Kenneth Markman was arrested, transported and booked at the Inmate Reception Center on several narcotics related offenses. He being held in lieu of $145,000.00 bail. The estimated value of the narcotics is $30,000.00. Charges include: Conspiracy to Distribute Narcotics; Transportation of Methamphetamine and Heroin; Transportation of Marijuana; Transportation of Narcotics into a Custody Facility; Participation with Criminal Street Gang Members in Felonious Conduct; and Conspiracy to Distribute Narcotics.

Narcotics such as these, and the abuse of these narcotics, can lead to violent confrontations with law enforcement personnel, especially in a more confined environment such as a jail setting. Use of these controlled substances by inmates in a custody facility can also lead to assaults against other inmates due to the unpredictable nature of people who are under the influence of these drugs.
Suspect Markman was meeting with his client, who is a violent gang member appearing in court Friday to be sentenced on a felony case. Information about the gang member is not being made available at this time.

So far in 2011, 47 arrests for narcotics violations were made in Los Angeles County courthouses. Meanwhile in 2011, two guns and 34,266 knives were confiscated.

In 2010, 73 narcotics arrests were made, and two guns and 51,806 knives were confiscated from persons entering Los Angeles County court facilities. The Court Services Division of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has the responsibility for providing security for the 42 courthouses of the Los Angeles Superior Court system, which is the nation’s largest. It is the mission of Sheriff’s Court Services Division personnel to provide a safe environment, as well as effective and efficient levels of security to Judges, Superior Court employees, court patrons, court prisoners, and Sheriff’s Department employees assigned to work at the courthouses within Los Angeles County. Hit & run fatality suspect drives into DUI checkpoint - Felony charges filed

A suspect in a hit and run fatality while driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) has been charged with Second Degree Murder, Felony DUI, & Hit and Run from a traffic collision.
The incident began Friday, April 29, 2011, at 11:30 PM, when Lancaster Sheriff’s Station deputies were working a DUI Checkpoint in the westbound lanes of the 800 block of West Avenue J (two tenths of a mile east of 10th Street West), in the City of Lancaster.

The sound of squealing tires drew the deputies attention to a 1996 black Ford Mustang. The Mustang was turning onto eastbound avenue J, from northbound 10th Street West. The Mustang drove east right past the DUI Checkpoint, on the opposite side of the roadway.
Deputies noticed the Mustang had a headlight out and a large portion of its windshield was shattered. Deputies Steve Owen and Mark Donnel quickly jumped into a patrol car and drove after the Mustang. They conducted a traffic stop near Avenue J and Sierra Highway in the City of Lancaster.

Upon contacting the driver, (Suspect) Isidro Peralta, a 24 year old Hispanic male resident of the nearby town of Littlerock, the deputies noticed the driver displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, and they detained him while investigating further.

They inspected the vehicle and found it had major collision damage and what appeared to be fresh blood, on the front bumper area, and on the shattered windshield.

Due to the deputies observations, they were concerned that a serious hit and run incident had possibly just occurred.

They quickly broadcast over sheriff’s radio to all Lancaster Station sheriff’s deputies, and explained what they had found. They directed deputies to search 10th Street West, from the direction the Mustang was first seen coming from, for a possible hit and run victim.

A short time later, deputies located a male Black adult lying in the middle of the northbound lanes of 10th Street West near Avenue J-8, in the City of Lancaster.

They noticed the victim had sustained major injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle, and they found no signs that he was alive. The deputies immediately called for paramedics to respond. The deputies tried reviving the victim, to no avail.

Paramedics from Los Angeles County Fire Engine Company # 33, arrived a short time later and evaluated the victim.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. He was later identified as Curly Junior Ross, a 50-year old resident of the city of Lancaster.

Suspect Peralta was ultimately arrested for suspicion of D.U.I., Felony Hit and Run, and Vehicular Manslaughter.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Risk Management Bureau’s Traffic Services Detail, will be conducting a DUI/DL Checkpoint on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6 PM until approximately 2 AM. The checkpoint will be conducted in the City of Palmdale.
Statewide, overall traffic deaths have declined 23 percent from 3,995 in 2007 to 3,081 in 2009 and total traffic fatalities are at their lowest level in six decades. DUI deaths have declined from 1,132 in 2007 to 950 in 2009, which is a decrease of over 16 percent. Not to mention the high cost of a first time DUI conviction which could cost someone anywhere between $6,000 to $10,000 when all the potential fines, fees, classes, lawyers, work days missed, and increased insurance for years to come have been factored in.
All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. Alcohol impaired deaths make up the largest number of vehicle fatalities, with 31 percent of all vehicle fatalities caused by a drunk driver. A DUI/DL checkpoint is an effective and proven method in lowering alcohol related traffic deaths. This DUI/DL checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well to insure that drivers possess a valid driver’s license.
A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness, as well as educate the public, on the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers. By publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving, which ultimately will save lives.
Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs – Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety administration.

Ernesto Perez age 36 of Burbank arrested for soliciting bail without a license, from Bail Bondsman in O.C.

Ernesto Perez was arrested back in May and was held in lieu of $150,000 dollar bail. Perez has been bonded out and his case is ongoing. SANTA ANA – A man has been charged with acting as a bail bonds agent without a license by plotting with three co-defendants to solicit inmates as clients from Orange County Jail. Ernesto Perez, 36, Burbank, is charged with 21 felony counts of negotiating bail without a license and 16 felony counts of identity theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 27 years in state prison. Perez was arraigned today and is being held on $150,000 bail. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing March 23, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

Three co-defendants are currently in custody for other unrelated crimes and their bail in this case is to be determined. They are scheduled to be arraigned April 12, 2011, in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

Jonathan Thomas Campos, 27, is charged with two felony counts of violation of bail license regulations and two felony counts of soliciting bail without a license. He faces a maximum of five years in state prison if convicted. Jason Anthony Gatewood, 22, is charged with two felony counts of violation of bail license regulations and five felony counts of soliciting bail without a license. He faces a maximum of seven years in state prison if convicted. Mark Ward, 47, is charged with one felony count of violation of bail license regulations and two felony counts of soliciting bail without a license. He faces a maximum of four years and four months in state prison if convicted.

In regards to Perez, California law prohibits any person from negotiating the execution or delivery of bail unless they are a bail bonds licensee. If Perez had been a licensed bail bondsman, his actions would still be criminal. California law prohibits bail bond licensees from unlawfully soliciting bail business from any inmate or incarcerated person to protect them from undue influence during a vulnerable time in their lives. In regards to Campos, Gatewood, and Ward, California law prohibits any person without a bail bonds license from arranging for the bail of another for compensation or receiving commission for a bail transaction.

Between Aug. 5, 2010, and Feb. 24, 2011, defendants Campos, Gatewood, and Ward were in custody in the Orange County Jail. During this time, Perez is accused of plotting with his three co-defendants for them to solicit other in-custody inmates to contact Perez to provide their bail. The defendant was employed by Plotkin Bail Bonds but is not a licensed bail bondsman.

On 21 occasions, Perez is accused of acting as a bail bondsman without a license by negotiating with inmates to post their bail. Campos, Gatewood, and Ward are accused of receiving payment from Perez in the form of money posted to their jail accounts in exchange for the illegal solicitations on behalf of Perez.

On 16 occasions during this time period, Perez is also accused of illegally using a legitimate bail bond license number belonging to a licensed bail bondsman from Bakersfield without the victim’s knowledge or consent. Perez is accused of using this stolen license number to log in to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department database accessible only to licensed bail bondsmen to look up inmate bail information.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputy District Attorney Brock Zimmon of the Special Prosecutions Unit is prosecuting this case.

Five people charged with attempting to smuggle narcotics into the LA Co jail - brothers, mother, others

While investigating the case involving a convicted Pico Rivera murderer who tattooed his crime on his chest, Sheriff’s Homicide Sergeant Kevin Lloyd discovered yet another serious crime.

Five suspects face felony charges of trying to smuggle heroin and methamphetamines into the Los Angeles County jail. Arrested and/or charged for the drug offenses include convicted murderer Anthony Garcia, 25, his mother, brother and two other people.

On April 11, 2011, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in Bellflower filed the case. The five suspects have been charged with felony crimes associated with conspiracy to bring drugs into the jail system.

That day (April 11), Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau detectives arrested Suspect John Garcia, as he left his Norwalk residence. Suspect John Garcia is a gang member on parole and the brother of Anthony Garcia. He is being held without bail permitted.

Suspect Vivian Garcia, is the 46-year old mother of Anthony and John Garcia, and a resident of Norwalk. She was also arrested on April 11 when she went to Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station to visit her newly arrested son. She was released on April 12 on bond.

Suspect Manuel Bermudez, 32, a gang member and former resident of Downey is currently in state prison. He has multiple felony convictions for narcotics and firearms offenses.

Suspect Cynthia Bermudez, the 29-year old girlfriend of Manuel Bermudez, was also arrested on April 11, at her residence in Huntington Park. She was released on April 13 on $110,000.00 bond.

While awaiting trial in the unrelated Pico Rivera homicide case that was tattooed on his chest, Suspect Anthony Garcia allegedly conspired with the four other suspects to smuggle drugs into the county jail.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detective Sergeant Lloyd discovered the alleged plot and worked with Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau Detective John Clark and other sheriff’s detectives to gather evidence in this case.

Suspect Manuel Bermudez had been sentenced to four years in prison in an unrelated case. He was due to turn himself in to court but his sentence had been delayed. On June 10, 2010, he turned himself in at Norwalk Court, with four golf ball sized balloons of heroin and methamphetamine in his rectum. Deputies had anticipated this and prevented the drugs from being brought into the jail system. Suspect Manuel was additionally charged with possession for sale of a controlled substance.

Sheriff’s investigators delayed seeking a filing of this case with the District Attorney’s office, pending conclusion on the priority homicide case involving Anthony Garcia.

Long Beach Police Department reminds parents that curfew laws will be enforced during Spring Break 2011

The 2011 Spring Break for Long Beach students is fast approaching and schools will be closed during the week of April 25th - 29th, with students returning to class on Monday, May 2nd.

The Long Beach Police Department would like to remind parents that Section 9.58.010 of the Long Beach Municipal Code states: "It is unlawful for any minor under the age of eighteen (18) years to remain in or upon any 'public place' as defined in Section 9.02.090, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following day."

The Long Beach Police Department takes curfew violations seriously. Our experience has shown us that children/youth who are on the street after curfew are more likely to become victims of violent crime, and also are more likely to become involved in criminal behavior.

Parents should know the whereabouts of their children at all times and ensure they get home safely before curfew. The Long Beach Police Department will strictly enforce the curfew statutes through the spring break week, and staffing has been adjusted to accommodate enforcement action.

Additionally, in January 2011, the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office announced its Parent Accountability and Chronic Truancy (PACT) Program, a collaborative effort with the L.B.P.D and the Long Beach Unified School District. Under this new program, parents and legal guardians can be criminally prosecuted for "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" if they fail to supervise their children, and the children disobey the law or any lawful order of the juvenile court. Parents can also be prosecuted if their children fail to regularly attend school and are deemed "chronic truants." The City Prosecutor will be strictly enforcing his new PACT program during next week's Spring Break.

These laws are in place to protect children/youth, and the Long Beach Police Department and the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office will enforce and prosecute these laws with your child’s safety in mind. By working together, we can help provide your family a safe and enjoyable Spring Break
