Detectives arrest suspect who posed as an Customs Enforcement Agent, and preyed upon undocumented immigrants Sheriff’s Detectives assigned to Century Sheriff's Station arrested Suspect Araceli Martinez for posing as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent and preying upon undocumented immigrants.
Fourteen victims reported they each paid between $4,000 and $8,000 dollars to Suspect Martinez in exchange for obtaining what they believed would grant them legal resident status.
Sheriff’s Detectives attempted to locate Suspect Martinez at her residence and discovered she had left within the hour to catch a flight from LAX to Mexico. Detectives coordinated with the LAX Airport Police, who detained her until deputies arrived and arrested her. Her flight was scheduled to depart within minutes of her arrest.
Suspect Araceli Martinez was booked at Century Regional Detention Facility for Theft by False Pretenses, with a Bail of $335,000. Century Sheriff’s Station is located at 11703 S. Alameda St. Lynwood, Ca. 90262;323-568-4800.
