The City of
Palmdale funded three teams and command post personnel to target illegal fireworks within the city. This included four deputies assigned to the county summer suppression team, which enforced the use of any fireworks in the county area.
This team consisted of one lieutenant, three sergeants and twenty seven deputies, in addition to the Palmdale Station’s normal staffing for patrol related calls for service. The City of Palmdale also placed three, City of Palmdale Code Enforcement Officers with each team.
The teams responded to 83 calls of illegal fireworks use throughout the night. Together they seized more than 300 pounds of illegal fireworks, and wrote twenty four administrative citations.
