DUI CHECKPOINT On Aug 13, 2012 In Bellflower From Bail Bondsman In Bellflower

DUI / DL Checkpoint Fri, Aug. 31 in Bellflower - LASD Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Risk Management Bureau’s Traffic Services Detail will be conducting a DUI/DL Checkpoint on Friday, August 31, 2012, from 6 PM until approximately 1 AM. The checkpoint will be conducted in the City of Bellflower. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI/CDL checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as insuring drivers possess a valid driver’s license. A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness of the dangers or impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers. A DUI/CDL checkpoint is a proven effective method for achieving this goal. By publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving. Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs – Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver. Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety administration.

Suspect vehicle: Small white 2-door pickup truck, with a black box in the back (Possibly a mesh tool box with a zipper and orange logo on the front of the box). If you have any information related to these cases, contact Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, San Dimas Station Detectives Tim Ruggiero or Alan Wetters at (909) 450-2700. Or if you wish to remain Anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org SAFETY TIPS: The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (http://www.missingkids.com) offers the following safety tips for parents to discuss with their youngsters: Travel with a friend, or better yet, a group of friends when riding your bike or walking to or from school or other destinations. If a stranger offers you a ride somewhere, say no, and run away. Adults should define "stranger" and give safety tip examples to help youth, especially young ones, know what you mean. If someone follows you on foot, get away as quickly as you can. Go to someone's house you know, or run to other people, or just run away. If someone is following you in a car, turn around and go in the opposite direction or take a path where a car would not go. Never leave school or any other extracurricular activity or event with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. Moms or dads should tell their youngster that it is okay in these circumstances to not ride home, but that also means adults should have an established communications method along with these safety tip guidelines so that the kid does not end up stranded or alone. If a stranger tells you that there is an emergency or that a family member is hurt or that a pet has been in an accident, always check with your mom or dad or other trusted adults. This is a common trick used by many molesters or kidnappers. For more information about safety tips contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department www.lasd.org , your local police or sheriff's station, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at http://www.missingkids.com MORE SFAETY TIPS: Adults should establish "safe houses" where kids feel comfortable in knocking on their door at any time a situation warrants it. Be sure to get approval from the neighbors/homeowners first before designating a home as a "safe house." If possible, have a neighborhood safety tip meeting and have residents agree to watch after one another. Parents should be cautious about blatant use of a child's name on a back pack or jacket. Kids sometimes believe that a person can't be a stranger if they know them by name, when the reality is that their name was easily readable on their attire or the individual heard a youngster's name mentioned. Adults should understand that boys are at just as greatest of risk as girls. It is a common safety tip misconception that child molesters or perpetrators are typically men and seek only girls. Molesters come in all ages and both genders, and their victims can be of either sex. Parents should begin reinforcing these safety tips as soon as a kid is old enough to understand, and above all, ensure that their child feels comfortable enough in discussing these issues, their concerns or fears, or any potentially inappropriate events that have possibly transpired. Awareness of these safety tips can help kids be less susceptible to any stranger dangers.

All American Bail Bonds in Palmdale, Tips on Preventing Cell Phone Theft

Here at All American Bail Bonds we strive to always keep the public aware and safe and recently we received a disturbing report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in Palmdale. The report that we received indicates that there as recently been an increase in cell phone thefts in and around the Palmdale Ca area.

Because cell phones are now an everyday part of our lives, and most everyone carries one, criminals are finding it easier to steal them. With the popularity of smartphones in society today, people are storing more and more personal information on their devices. Once your device has been stolen, it is relatively easy for individuals to obtain this private information before clearing the memory and reselling the device.

Detectives have found a few common denominators in relation to cell phone thefts and have provided the following safety tips which may reduce the likelihood of being a victim of cell phone theft.

•Be aware of your surroundings. Do not walk down the street talking on your phone oblivious of your environment. Thieves are looking for victims who are distracted.

•While in public, do not leave your phone unattended; put it away after use.

•If you become a victim of a crime, call the police as soon as possible. Do not wait until you arrive at your destination.

•Activate the GPS tracking system on your phone or other electronic device. If the device does not have a GPS tracking system, there is after-market software available. By having these applications installed on the devices, police personnel may locate the suspects and perhaps, recover your phone.

•If you are a victim of a cell phone theft and see the suspect, do not attempt to recover your property. Attempt to secure a good description of the suspect and/or any involved vehicles (license number, color, and model) and the last known direction of travel. Let the Sheriff’s Department attempt to locate and arrests the person(s) responsible.

•Use the security lock code, or PIN feature, to lock your phone.

•Make a record of all your phone information, including serial number model and make, and keep this in a safe place.

•Consider carefully what information you store on your cell phone. If it would create too big of a disaster if it fell into someone else's hands, don't store it. You may not prevent someone from taking your phone, but you can prevent them from accessing important information.

All American Bail Bonds, Good Tips on how to Prevent Home Robberies while on Vacation

Here at All American Bail Bonds, we strive to always keep the public safe. We often receive good information from the local law enforcement agencies that we work closely with.
The following information was provided to our All American Bail Bonding staff in Santa Clarita
while at a local Sheriff function. Due to an abnormally high increase of home robberies we provide this info to help educate people in the simple things they can do to prevent the theft of
their personal property as well as harm to themselves and their loved ones.

While On Vacation:

• Ask a family member or friend or hire a house sitter to live in your home

• Ask neighbors to help with your trash bins and newspaper.

• Install an approved and monitored residential alarm system.

• Park a neighbor’s car in your driveway.

• Use timers on indoor lights to give the impression you are home.

• Have merchandise delivered to a neighbor’s house.

• Request Vacation Home Checks from your local Sheriff's or Police Station:

Bright Ideas:

• Install lights by all exterior doors. Use lights at night.

• Install outside light fixtures where bulbs are hard to reach.

• Illuminate house numbers for quick emergency services response.

Doors & Windows:

* Install good quality dead-bolts on your doors and USE THEM.

• Change the locks when moving into a new residence.

• Always lock your doors and windows.

• Give your trusted neighbor / family member the spare key – Don’t hide it outside.

• Use solid core or metal exterior doors.

• Use dead bolt door locks on exterior doors and double cylinder dead bolt locks if glass is within 3 feet of the lock.

• Add auxiliary track-type locks, removable drop bars, wooden dowels, or pinning devices to windows and sliding glass doors.

• Upgrade locks to defeat bump keying.

• Install peepholes on doors with 160 degree views so you don't have to open to door to see outside.

• Use a locking mailbox.

• Never leave notes for anyone on the door.

• Keep your valuable personal information in a safe deposit box.

Landscaping:

• Trim tree branches 7 feet off the ground.

• Prune shrubs to under 3 feet from the ground.

• Use motion sensors and photocells on exterior floodlights.

• Trim shrubs back from doors and windows. Don’t give burglars places to hide while they are breaking in.

Dealing With Strangers:

• Never let strangers enter your home.

• Verify workers by identification cards and calling their employer.

• Never give keys to workers.

Vehicle Smarts:

• Close the garage door and cover windows so no one can see inside.

• Hide the garage door opener from open view in your car.

* Don't leave valuables like your purse or GPS in plain sight

* A shopping bag may be empty but looks valuable, so burglars will break in to get that too.

Deputies & Brave Citizen Rescue Elderly Man from Burning House. LASD Bellflower Deputies Hospitalized From Bail Bondsman In Lakewood

Bellflower deputies from Lakewood Sheriff's Station responded to an emergency call at noon Saturday regarding a structural fire call at the 9500 block of Rose Street, Bellflower. When they arrived, they noticed the rear of the house was on fire with black smoke spewing out from the roof. They also heard a male voice calling for help from inside the home. The deputies were initially unable to gain entry into the home due to metal security bars on the windows and doors. One deputy forcibly pulled off one of the security bars with his hands and broke a window to the home. The small opening was not big enough to allow the deputies to gain entry, so they quickly moved over to a locked kitchen security door in an attempt to gain entry. Again the deputies was too big to get through the small opening. Meanwhile, the victim’s neighbor, a 59 year-old male, came to the aid of the deputies. He was smaller and was able to squeeze through the small opening the deputies had created in the window. Once inside, he opened the kitchen door so the deputies could come inside the home. By this time, the house was filled with black smoke but deputies ran into the burning house, located the victim, and carried the 85-year old male resident outside to safety. The 85-year old victim and two deputies were transported to local hospitals where they were treated for their injuries. The victim was later released; however, the two deputies have been admitted to the hospital for overnight observation. They are in stable condition. The neighbor was seen by Los Angeles County firefighters at the scene, but declined further medical treatment. Los Angeles County Firefighters acted quickly and saved the house. Per firefighters, the fire was deemed accidental and caused approximately $25,000.00 in structural damage and $5,000 in property damage. "The deputies and brave neighbor quickly worked together to save the man's life," said Captain Mike Parker, Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. "We are certainly proud of our deputies, but the victim was also very fortunate to have a neighbor brave enough to climb through iron bars into a burning house to save him."

Checkpoint Scheduled in the City of Palmdale this Weekend From Bail Bondsman In Palmdale

We at All American Bail Bonds would like to inform the residents of Palmdale that the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, August 10, 2012 at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. DUI checkpoints are a proven enforcement tool effective in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often enough. Deputies will be contacting drivers passing through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. Deputies will also check for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000. “Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 7 lives and resulted in 88 injury crashes harming 121 of our friends and neighbors,” said Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Sergeant M. Johnston. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent. Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public. “Deaths from drunk and drug-impaired driving are going down in California,” said Christopher J. Murphy, Director of the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). “But that still means that hundreds of our friends, family and co-workers are killed each year, along with tens of thousands who are seriously injured. We must all continue to work together to bring an end to these tragedies. If you see a Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1.” Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the City of Palmdale by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, targeting those who still don’t heed the message to designate a sober driver.

Palmdale Station sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a male acting violently, family members reported that the male relative was possibly under the influence of drugs. However, he left the location prior to the deputies' arrival. Deputies began searching the area for this individual. While deputies were patrolling the area, they were flagged down by an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer who told them that he and his fiance had just been assaulted by a male with a metal pipe. The suspect matched the description of the person the deputies were searching for. Two deputies saw a man matching the description of the suspect standing in the middle of the street in the 38500 block of Larkin Avenue. When the suspect saw the deputies, he fled into the rear yard of a residence. The deputies followed the suspect into the rear yard. The suspect attempted to scale a high block wall, but deputies were able to pull the suspect down from the wall and a physical altercation ensued. During the fight the suspect gained control of one of the deputy's duty weapon, and pointed it at him. The deputy quickly pushed the suspect's hands upward and at that moment the suspect fired at least one shot into the air. The deputy drew his back-up weapon and fired multiple rounds at the suspect. Simultaneously, the second deputy saw the suspect with a gun and fired multiple shots at the suspect.
