The Long Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a cat burglary that occurred in the area of 7th Street and Temple Avenue on Friday, July 13, 2012, at approximately 10:30 p.m., and a composite sketch is now available.
The adult female was asleep in her residence when she woke to find the suspect standing over her. The suspect made lewd comments to the victim and then fled the residence. The victim immediately reported the incident to police.
The victim described the suspect as a male Hispanic in his 40s, 5’5” to 5’6” tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a mustache.
The Long Beach Police Department would like to encourage residents to practice the following safety tips:
- keep your doors and windows secured at all times
- purchase devices for your windows that will allow adequate ventilation without jeopardizing your safety
- install security lights with motion sensors outside your home
- prevent hiding locations by keeping bushes and shrubbery trimmed
- know your escape routes
- immediately report any suspicious activity or persons by calling 9-1-1 regardless of how insignificant you may feel it is and let police determine its importance
