The Los Angeles County district attorney's office on Monday charged a Compton High School math teacher with multiple felonies, alleging that he sexually abused three female students.
Nicolei Hurtado Ocaña, 28, of Placentia was charged with two counts of committing lewd acts upon a child, two counts of contact with a minor for sexual offense, and one count each of oral copulation of a person under 18 and child molesting, a misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, the offenses took place at the school between September 2008 and last month. One of the victims was 15, and the other two were 16 at the time of the offenses.
Ocaña was arrested Friday by investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau. He is being held in lieu of $290,000 bail.
If convicted, Ocaña faces a maximum term of six years in state prison.
We will update the story as it relates to bail as we receive the information.

From Bail Bondsman in Compton-Parents arrested after 6-month-old baby burned in Compton
Two Compton parents have been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after their 6-month-old daughter received second-degree burns from a floor heater, authorities said today.
Monya Denise Earl, 26, took her daughter to Martin Luther King Urgent Care Clinic at about 10:30 p.m. Monday and was told she would have to go to another hospital for treatment and that the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services would be called.
“She said, ‘OK,’” said Sgt. Raul Regalado of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
But instead of going to the hospital, she went back to her home, authorities said. Deputies soon followed, finding a filthy house and narcotics hidden under one of the beds, authorities said.
Two other children -- 2-year-old and 5-year-old boys -- were also in the house.
“Obviously she didn’t want [children services] to come to their home,” Regalado said.
The baby girl was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for burns on her left hand. All three children were placed into protective custody with the Department of Children and Family Services.
The parents, Earl and Damien Ramon Morgan, 32, were arrested on child endangerment and narcotics charges, sheriff’s officials said.
The suspects have been released pending further investigation. We will update the story as it relates to bail as we receive the information.
