Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were responding to a missing person's report Nov. 30 when they found the body of Ginger Candela, 44, in her garage. The residence had been ransacked and numerous items had been taken, according to a Las Vegas police statement.
Police suspect Michael Lane, 34, of the killing. Lane, who also uses the name Chae Saville, was raised in London and is heavily involved in "the concept of spiritual healing" and motivational speaking, the statement said.
Detectives believe Lane may have befriended numerous women and defrauded them without their knowledge. In addition to Las Vegas and Ventura, he is known to have visited San Diego and Portland, Ore., the statement said. He may also have lived in the Philippines, where he may have a daughter.
Lane was taken into custody Thursday at a Motel 6 in Ventura, said Cpl. Rick Payne of the Ventura Police Department, which assisted in the arrest along with the FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force.
