No Bail for Fugitive, British spiritual healer suspected of killing Las Vegas woman is arrested in Ventura, from Bail Bondsman in Ventura

Police are looking for information on a British motivational speaker and spiritual healer who was arrested in Ventura last week in connection with the killing of a Las Vegas woman.


Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were responding to a missing person's report Nov. 30 when they found the body of Ginger Candela, 44, in her garage. The residence had been ransacked and numerous items had been taken, according to a Las Vegas police statement.

Police suspect Michael Lane, 34, of the killing. Lane, who also uses the name Chae Saville, was raised in London and is heavily involved in "the concept of spiritual healing" and motivational speaking, the statement said.

Detectives believe Lane may have befriended numerous women and defrauded them without their knowledge. In addition to Las Vegas and Ventura, he is known to have visited San Diego and Portland, Ore., the statement said. He may also have lived in the Philippines, where he may have a daughter.


Lane was taken into custody Thursday at a Motel 6 in Ventura, said Cpl. Rick Payne of the Ventura Police Department, which assisted in the arrest along with the FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force.

The arrest was done on a Las Vegas warrant, and Lane is expected to be turned over to authorities there in a week to 10 days, said Officer Bill Cassell, a Las Vegas police spokesman. Lane has waived the right to extradition, Cassell said. He declined to provide further information about the case.

The victim's family is also attempting to locate her dog, a Chihuahua named Gi Gi, which according to police, Lane may have given to an unknown woman he met on the Las Vegas Strip.
