$150,000 Bail for Robbery Suspects Busted with their Kids, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Van Nuys | Los Angeles

Sherman Oaks - A man and woman were arrested Monday after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a brief chase in a car with their two children in the back seat.

William Farag and Nadia Redoble, both 28 and from Van Nuys, were arrested about 3:30 a.m. and booked for three counts of suspicion of robbery, said California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang. Bail for each was set at $150,000, according to the sheriff's department.

Two CHP officers going into eat at Encino IHOP at 15635 Ventura Blvd., near Haskell Avenue, were told by a restaurant employee that a man wearing a ski mask had pointed a handgun at two co-workers, Los Angeles police said.

The man had run and gotten into a black Nissan Maxima driven by a woman. She sped off, with the officers in pursuit.

The chase ended when the officers used a PIT maneuver. Officers then discovered there were 4- and 6-year-old children in the car.

Neither child was injured, but the CHP officers did not know the children were in the car when they began the chase.

The children were taken into protective custody.

Further investigation linked the pair to two additional robberies, Los Angeles police said.

The first was at 2:45 a.m. at the Rite Aid at 13333 Riverside Drive, near Fulton Avenue, in Sherman Oaks. A second robbery occurred at an Encino CVS Pharmacy at 17320 Ventura Blvd., near Louise Avenue, at 3 a.m., just before the IHOP robbery.

The District Attorney's Office was asked to consider charges for child endangering, being a felon in possession of a gun and felony evading.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call robbery detectives at (818) 374-7730.

The Bail amount for William Farag is currently $150,000 and the the bail for Nadia Redoble is currently $155,000 which includes a $5,0000 warrant in addition to the $150,000 bail for the open charge.

Bail Amount Set $100,501 for Phony Photographer who Turns Self In, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach | Van Nuys | Palmdale | Los Angeles

Los Angeles - A South Los Angeles man accused of posing as a magazine photographer to grope young women turned himself in today, police said.

Keith Nichols, 22, allegedly told several young women he was a photographer for Vibe Magazine, and they agreed to let him "measure" their most intimate body parts for "custom-fitted underwear," Capt. Blake Chow of the Los Angeles Police Department said earlier.

Nichols told the women that if their measurements were right, they could get a modeling job for Vibe Magazine, Chow said.

The women realized they had "been duped when Nichols never returned phone calls," he said.

Nichols, who has worked as a security guard and lived in Compton, turned himself in to police around 1 this afternoon, and bail was set at $1000,501, according to jail records.

"The `measuring' sessions often occurred spontaneously in secluded, public places, where Nichols used a measuring tape as a prop," Chow said. "While none of the woman recalled him taking photographs, Nichols did touch the women's bare breasts and groins with his hands.

"These crimes amount only to a misdemeanor at this point, but the potential for a more serious crime is there," Chow said earlier. "We don't know how many women Nichols has approached, how many have submitted, or if he has committed more serious crimes."

"The lure of Hollywood and a big career in modeling blinded these girls from reality," Chow said. "That's what con artists rely on."

Nichols currently has the existing open charge as well as a warrant, we will provide more information on his bail or case information as it comes in.

Five Arrests in Long Beach Poly Attacks, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach

Long Beach - Police arrested five Long Beach Poly High School freshmen for sexual battery after two girls were allegedly attacked on campus, it was reported today.

The arrests stem from an incident that occurred near the student store on Tuesday toward the end of the lunch break, police and school officials told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

The students were "involved in a brief situation where at least one of the boys apparently groped one or more of the girls," Chris Eftychiou, spokesman for the Long Beach Unified School District told the newspaper, adding that there were no signs of force and no medical attention was required, he said.

After receiving a complaint from one of the girls, the district called the police, he told the newspaper.

A spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department could not be reached for comment today.

The suspects were arrested separately on school grounds throughout last week as the investigation progressed, Lt. Ty Hatfield of the Long Beach Police Department's Juvenile Division told the newspaper.

The boys' names were withheld because they are minors. Police and Eftychiou said that at least some of the boys are on the freshman football team, the Press-Telegram reported.

The boys were released to their parents following their arrests, Eftychiou told the newspaper. Three of the boys have been suspended from school for five days, the other two were sent to alternative schools in the district, he added.

"These students are facing some significant disciplinary measures for it," he told the newspaper. "We don't turn a blind eye to that sort of thing."

The attack may not have been an isolated incident and investigators are looking for any other victims who may not have come forward. Police asked anyone with information about this incident, or a similar incident, to call the LBPD's Juvenile Division at (562) 570-1425.

Norwalk Ca - Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies say tips from the public helped lead to the arrest of a suspect who allegedly robbed a man outside a convenience store while holding a 3-year-old boy in his arms.

Sheriff's officials say Jeremy Gallegos was arrested Thursday and booked on suspicion of robbery and child endangerment. He's being held on $100,000 bail.

Deputies say the man was holding the boy when he ordered a man outside a convenience store last month to hand over his wallet and two cans of beer he'd just purchased.

Chris Brown Gets Good Marks in Court, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach | Van Nuys | Palmdale

Los Angeles - R&B singer Chris Brown, who previously admitted assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Awards party, was praised today by a judge for receiving an "extremely favorable progress report."

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg ordered the 20-year- old entertainer to return to the downtown courthouse on Feb. 18 for another progress report hearing.

"It's an extremely favorable progress report," the judge said after reviewing the Probation Department document detailing Brown's progress since his Aug. 25 sentencing.

Schnegg noted that Brown will have to come back to court every three months until he finishes a yearlong domestic counseling program, but that he won't have to personally report to court once that is done.

The singer has already completed more than 100 hours toward his required 180 days of community labor, and has done seven sessions in the domestic violence counseling program, defense attorney Mark Geragos told the judge.

The judge said the police chief in Richmond, Va. -- the state where Brown lives -- is "keeping very detailed records" about the singer's community labor.

Brown was sentenced just under three months ago to five years probation and the yearlong domestic violence program and 180 days of community labor, which could include highway cleanup, litter removal or other similar work.

A protective order also requires Brown to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna, unless they are both attending an entertainment industry function, where the restriction would be lowered to 10 yards.

Brown pleaded guilty June 22 to assault, admitting he attacked Rihanna during an argument that began around 12:30 a.m. Feb. 8 while the singers were in a rented Lamborghini on North June Street near First Street.

A second felony count -- criminal threats -- was dismissed as a result of Brown's guilty plea.

Since then, Brown issued a videotaped apology posted on his Web site in which he told his fans his conduct had been "inexcusable."

"I have told Rihanna countless times -- and I'm telling you today -- that I am truly, truly sorry ... that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better," he said in the two-minute apology.

He said he wished that "I had a chance to live those moments again. But, unfortunately, I can't. I cannot go into what happened and, most importantly, I'm not going to sit here and make any excuses. I take great pride in me being able to exercise self-control, and what I did was inexcusable. I am very sad and very ashamed at what I've done."

Bounty Hunter Shoots DUI Suspect, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach | Van Nuys | Palmdale

An investigation was under way today into the wounding of a DUI suspect who was shot and wounded by a bounty hunter during a scuffle in Sun Valley, police said.

Three armed bounty hunters went to the 8200 block of Marmay Place, near Burton Street, about 9:25 p.m. Monday to catch a man who had "skipped bail related to a misdemeanor DUI arrest," said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

When the suspect tried to get away, a scuffle broke out and one of the bounty hunters shot the man, she said.

The suspect apparently grabbed one of the bounty hunter's guns during the scuffle, Rayner told the Los Angeles Times.

"The bounty hunter had his weapon taken away, and his partner fired a least one shot at the suspect," Rayner told the newspaper.

The man was shot in the leg, Rayner said. The suspect was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police were investigating whether the bounty hunters were authorized to carry weapons.

Mexico Arrests 1 of FBI's Most-Wanted Fugitives , from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach | Van Nuys | Palmdale

One of the FBI's most-sought fugitives, wanted for the 2002 killings of his girlfriend and her two young sons in Idaho, was captured in Mexico.

Federal police detained Jorge Alberto Lopez Orozco on a highway in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero, Mexico's Attorney General's Office said Thursday. He was transported to the neighboring state of Michoacan and held on a U.S. extradition request.

Lopez Orozco, 33, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Rebecca Ramirez and her sons, aged 2 and 4, in Elmore County, Idaho. He was placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list in March 2005.

There was no immediate information on whether U.S. prosecutors had agreed not to seek the death penalty against Lopez Orozco; Mexico refuses to extradite suspects who might face execution.

According to FBI reports, Lopez Orozco called Ramirez on July 30, 2002, and later picked her up along with her two sons at her father's house in Nyssa, Ore. Twelve days later, fishermen found the abandoned, burned-out shell of the car that Lopez Orozco had been driving near the Snake River in a remote area of Elmore County.

The charred remains of Ramirez and the two boys, Ricardo and Miguel, were inside. Investigators later determined they had been shot.

Law enforcement officials said Lopez Orozco and Ramirez had an on-again, off-again affair that was well known in the community. At the time of her death, Ramirez had five surviving children aged 7 to 17, the Idaho Statesman reported.

After the killings, Lopez Orozco fled to San Jose, Calif., with the help of family members, the FBI says.

Lopez Orozco's sister-in-law Maria Garcia was arrested in 2006 on charges of accessory to murder, while his brother remains at large and is being sought by the FBI.

Lopez Orozco's arrest came about two months after Mexican authorities captured another of the FBI's Most Wanted: reputed gang member Emigdio Preciado Jr., 39, who is suspected of severely wounding a Los Angeles sheriff's deputy with automatic weapons fire.

Pot Farm Found Behind Police Station, from Bail Bondsman in Lakewood | Long Beach | Van Nuys | Palmdale

Canoga Park - Los Angeles police today busted a sophisticated marijuana farm inside an industrial building 25 feet from the back door of the Topanga Community Police Station.

About a week ago, officers smelled marijuana coming from the building at 8411 Canoga Ave., just a few feet from the station at 21501 Schoenborn St., said Officer Karen Rayner of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

They notified the narcotics unit which started an investigation.

"They noticed that traffic in and out of the building was very minimal. The ventilation had also been upgraded. The utility bills were disproportionately higher. The rooms in the building were filled with hydroponics equipment," Rayner said.

Rayner said the farmers had also "gone to great lengths to filter the air coming out of every hole that might leak to the outside." She said that all the places where the smell might have come had been plugged with liquid caulking stuff.

"But it was not enough," Rayner said. "Their luck ran out."

Three suspects were still being booked so their names could not be released, Rayner said. The amount of marijuana in the building had not yet been tabulated.

A warrant was served in the building about 3 p.m. Detectives estimated the operation had been going on for about eight months, Rayner said.

All American Bail Bonds Fugitive Recovery

The date is July 25th and you can call me agent 1, I am a fugitive recovery agent with All American Bail Bonds. Today we are going to revoke bail on one of our clients who has failed to check in and we have recently received credible information that he is currently using Meth and is a flight risk.

Our client from this point out will be called Brent. Brent lives in Hollywood with his young wife who is equally full of you know what. We originally bailed out Brent on a misdemeanor warrant out of riverside. Brent has a job at a local nightclub in West Hollywood and has failed to check in for over three weeks. We have tried to contact Brent on multiple occasions and we had recently found out that Brent has failed to appear on several other bonds posted previously, and after speaking with a mutual friend who notified us that he has been using meth for weeks, the head office has decided that bail revocation is necessary.

Well its Saturday July 25th and we are meeting at our North Hollywood office address 11526 Burbank Blvd North Hollywood Ca #20; we decided to do a early morning pick up so as to surprise Brent and hopefully get him while he was still asleep. There are three of us today and were driving one of our pick up vehicles, a late model mini van which my guys lovingly call the soccer mom van. We get to Brents house around 6:30 in the morning, I send agent 2 out around back of the apartment complex to the rear window while agent 3 and I go to the front I have agent 3 knock on the door claiming to be a neighbor with an emergency, stating he needs to use the phone. The door opens at that time agent 3 identifies himself and walks through the door tazer in hand, while I explain to the wife, who is the indemnitor, why we are there. While I am speaking with the wife do agent 2 squaks in on the radio and says he tazed the client while he was coming through the ally and now has him in custody. It appears that the defendant didn’t come in last night he had stayed out all night drinking and doing drugs. When brent saw our fugitive recovery agent in the ally he tried to turn and run. Agent 2 immediately identified himself gave pursuit and tazed the client which brought him to the ground. A couple seconds later he was handcuffs, he didn’t know what hit him. While this was all going on Agent 3 was in the bedroom getting ready to arrest another guy was naked in bed, that’s right naked in bed. It appears that the wife was having her own fun without her husband present, we later find out that she had got drunk and a friend had escorted her home because she couldn’t drive and of course one thing led to another. At this point now I am trying to keep a straight face but I can’t help but to think that maybe we’ve done more than just revoke a bail we may have just prevented a serious domestic disturbance. Well back to Brent, Agent 2 has taken him into custody and walked him to the vehicle with agent 3 while I explained to the wife why we were doing what we were doing. She tells me that Brent hasn’t been avoiding us it’s just he’s always drunk and doped up so he forgets to call. No excuses, we do our job, we drive Brent to Riverside county jail where he is promptly booked in and we all get some lunch and tell some good stories.
